International Trademark Registration Support

™️ Overseas Brand Registration and Protection Support (2025 Guide)

The Overseas Brand Registration Support is a Ministry of Trade incentive program that provides for the coverage of expenses for the registration and protection of Turkish brands abroad. The aim is to enable Turkish firms to secure their brand rights in global markets and to accelerate their branding processes. Both the registration process and legal protection expenses are supported within the scope of the incentive.

Who Can Benefit and Which Expenses Are Covered?

Who Can Benefit?

Capital companies based in Turkey that own a brand and are engaged in export can benefit from this support. To benefit from the support, the brand must be registered with the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office or an application for registration must have been made. Exporters with the status of both manufacturing and trading companies are within the scope of the support.

Which Expenses are Covered?

  • Trademark registration application and registration fees

  • Fees for overseas trademark agent or legal services

  • Trademark renewal expenses

  • Legal consultancy fees for objection and litigation processes that arise after registration

  • Fees for brand protection, monitoring, and actions taken against third-party applications

Note: The registration process and applications must be made to the valid trademark office in the supported country (e.g., EUIPO).

2025 Support Rates and Limits

  • Support Rate: 50% of expenditures

  • Support Duration: Maximum of 4 years for each brand

  • Annual Support Upper Limit: 2,860,670 TRY per company

  • Important Note: A company can apply for more than one of its brands, and the per-brand upper limit may expand according to the number of countries applied to.

  3. 3. DYS Application

An application is made via DYS (Support Management System) within 6 months at the latest from the date of expenditure.

  4. 4. Uploading Necessary Documents

Supporting documents such as trademark registration certificates, the invoice, payment receipt, service contract, and power of attorney are attached to the application.

  5. 5. Evaluation and Payment

The relevant Exporters' Association reviews the application, and if approved, the support payment is made in TRY by the Ministry.

Special Notes and Tips

  • Trademark registration can be done through the Madrid Protocol (multiple countries), the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO), or directly through the offices of target countries, all of which are covered by the support.

  • Separate support applications can be made for each stage of the registration process (application, objection, litigation, renewal, etc.).

  • Proactive protection activities such as brand protection services, monitoring fees, and third-party objection procedures are also supported.

  • The support period for a brand is 4 years; once this period is over, the right to support for the same brand ends.
